Shoplifters Hit with $1,000 Fines After Friars Hill Road Supermarket Theft

A pair of shoplifters who attempted to steal more than $1,700 worth of merchandise from Epicurean Supermarket have each been ordered to pay $1,000 in fines.

Acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason imposed the penalties on Monday after both defendants entered guilty pleas to larceny charges stemming from the June 20 incident on Friars Hill Road.

Court proceedings revealed that the duo had concealed a variety of items throughout the store using handbags and shopping carts as cover for their theft.

The total value of the attempted theft exceeded $1,700. Both individuals accepted responsibility for their actions by pleading guilty when they appeared before the magistrate days after the incident.
