Government Takes Swift Action to Enhance Security Following Pharmacy Break-In at Villa Polyclinic

Villa Polyclinic (Dwaine Looby)

During yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, Sir Molwyn Joseph, the Minister for Health, addressed a troubling incident regarding the upcoming pharmacy at the Villa Polyclinic.

The facility was broken into and completely looted, leading to a significant delay in the launch of pharmacy services.

These services were intended to provide residents of Point, Villa, and surrounding areas with crucial access to medications and healthcare support.

In response to this incident, the Cabinet has taken decisive action by issuing a directive for the immediate installation and enhancement of modern surveillance systems at all government and public facilities.

The aim is to bolster the security of public infrastructure and protect essential assets.

Key buildings targeted for security upgrades include health clinics, government offices, public schools, and the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.

Existing facilities with surveillance systems will also be assessed to ensure they meet current security standards, with consideration for any necessary upgrades or expansions.

This proactive measure underscores the Government’s commitment to safeguarding public resources and ensuring that vital services are delivered to communities uninterrupted and without compromise.
