Prime Minister Gaston Browne to launch financial institution soon
Prime Minister Gaston Browne plans to make good on his 1999 campaign pledge to bring a Financial Institution to the constituents of the community he represents.
The PM was speaking on his weekly radio broadcast on Pointe FM when he brought the point to light.
“The building that will house that finance center, or credit union – whatever we eventually decide to call it – that building is near completion”, Browne said. “I can say definitively that by first quarter of 2026, we will launch our finance company.”
This financial institution is part of a larger initiative that the Prime Minister committed to implementing during his initial years in political office. Browne says he was inspired to address the undesirable state of housing in his constituency of St. John’s City West.
“I’m not happy about what I’m seeing with all these derelict properties in the community. To the extent I feel as though we have to make some legislative changes to further empower the government to deal with these derelict homes”, Browne stated.

Browne seems steadfast to deliver on what he considers to be the only outstanding campaign promise he made regarding his housing redevelopment initiative.
“I guarantee you, I’m gonna raise at least 5 million dollars before the end of this year. And we’re gonna launch a finance company” said the PM. “Our primary focus will be on housing renewal.”

Easy way to launder dirty money if you control the financial institution….
Come in kleen PM. I eagerly await the opening of this center. Cause time bank done with me all my clothes gone cause they asking for every and I do mean every thing
We’ve heard this before. I’ll believe it when the finance company actually opens and people can access funds for housing.
I support the PM on this. If we don’t invest in fixing up our communities, who will? The finance company could help a lot of families.
This endeavor would be truly welcomed. I, for one, am looking forward to it.
We cannot say that this prime minister isn’t without a vision to make life easier for those around him. Kudos prime minister.
This could be a significant step in our economic development.
