Liat 20, now LIAT Air, is celebrating its inaugural year of operations and is on a mission to become the premier airline choice for Caribbean travelers!
The Antigua and Barbuda-based airline, still very young, rose from the challenges faced by its predecessor, LIAT (1974) Ltd., which succumbed to the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. LIAT Air has emerged stronger and more determined.
With a bold rebranding from LIAT 20, this new airline embodies resilience and innovation.
In the face of negativity and not much support from his regional counterparts at the start, Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne passionately rallied his regional partners to support the revival of air travel in the Caribbean.
However, with Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Dominica feeling the weight of past investments, they chose to step back, believing it was time to let the old LIAT rest in peace.
Undeterred, Antigua and Barbuda forged ahead alone, making substantial initial investments and quickly seeking regional and international partnerships.
The turning point came when Nigeria’s Air Peace stepped in as a partner, infusing millions into the new venture and providing critical equipment, including two cutting-edge ATR jets.
Now, just a year after launch, Liat Air proudly operates regular flights to thirteen exciting Caribbean destinations, connecting travelers from Jamaica in the north to Guyana in the south, and everywhere in between.

Congratulations Liat on achieving one year. We have always trusted in you as our carrier. May you continue to propser ans remain safe in the air.
Congratulations Liat Air on your one year. Can’t wait to take vacation and fly you guys
All to Liat Air. Let’s pushing to new beginnings and connecting the world in a better way
I want only good things for Liat. Good that the PM stood by his vision.
Good for them. Liat to dam expensive. A second bag on AA is $40 on Jet Blue is $45 I believe LIAT is a whole $60. Like really what is their justification for that
I’m proud to see LIAT Air celebrating its one-year anniversary. It took a lot of courage and vision to get this new venture off the ground. This is a vital service for our people, our tourism, and our economies. Congratulations on this important milestone!
LIAT to the world. Happy anniversary. Keep on flying
