Those persons taking the CSEC January exams will now be conducting those tests electronically.
This will be the case going forward for all sittings.
Local Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) Registrar Myrick Smith revealed that they will be transitioning for the January sitting following the increase in the May/June exams.
“So CXC is continuing the progress towards electronic examination. As I said, this year we did most of the multiple-choice exam online, and there’s no turning back. There’s no looking back. We’re going full force towards electronic exam. “In January of 2026, for the first time, the exams will be totally online, the multiple choice, the paper one and also the paper two,” Smith revealed.

CXC had previously announced that the multiple-choice paper would be administered electronically.
Five subject areas were administered electronically to students this year.
Under the new format, Paper 2 and other written components will adopt a hybrid approach, with questions displayed on-screen while candidates submit responses in traditional answer booklets.
“So, those who might be worried about your ability to type fast, don’t worry. You will still be able to write your answers but just that the exam paper would be online and so, we are going to be experimenting with that in January of 2026, Smith added.
He assured candidates to not be alarmed by the new format. The hybrid approach was conducted and according to reports, it went smoothly.
“There’s just nothing to be alarmed about. The only difference with the hybrid, instead of having the question paper before you, it will be on the computer before you and the booklet is laid out in a way that you cannot get confused.“Question one, there, it will be labelled question one, A or one, whatever, and you just simply write in the answer within the same time limit, and so on,” Smith explained.
Currently, 20 CXC territories are utilizing some form of electronic assessment.

Finally! Technology catching up with education. This should make marking and submissions faster.
The technological world we live in now
Hope the systems don’t crash on exam day though.
Hopefully that should curb the large incidents of cheating and violations
NO more cheating very good.
