The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) has formally recognized the dedication and service of its orderlies, closing its “Thank an Orderly Day” celebrations on Friday with a ceremony filled with tributes, awards, and applause.

Each orderly received a Certificate of Appreciation, with special honours presented in categories such as Leadership, Mentorship, Longest Serving Orderly, Helping Hands, and the prestigious Orderly of the Year 2024. One staff member was celebrated for an extraordinary 35 years of service, a highlight that drew standing ovations.

Certificates of Appreciation were distributed by Mr. Danley Philip, Director of Administration

Guest speaker Senator Michael Joseph praised the orderlies as “unsung heroes” of the health system, encouraging them to continue their work with pride and purpose.

Hospital administrators described the event as a chance to spotlight workers who often serve behind the scenes but remain central to patient care and the smooth functioning of the medical centre.
