The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) has welcomed a new addition to its medical staff with the appointment of Dr. Christopher Sulowski, a Pediatric Emergency Medicine specialist.
Dr. Sulowski, who trained and practiced in Canada, brings years of experience in pediatric and emergency care. He previously served at McMaster Children’s Hospital and is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, CAWAR, and Health Sciences at McMaster University. A graduate of the University of Toronto, he is also married and relocating to Antigua for his new post.
In joining SLBMC’s Department of Pediatrics, Dr. Sulowski said he is eager to share his expertise in emergency medicine for children.
“I am excited to join the Department of Pediatrics and contribute my international Pediatric Emergency Medicine experience to further Mount St. John’s mission of delivering the highest quality care,” he said. “Together, we’ll continue promoting an exceptional standard of timely, compassionate care for the children of Antigua and Barbuda.”
Hospital officials say his appointment strengthens the nation’s capacity to deliver specialized care to children, particularly in emergencies.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for SLBMC’s annual cancer symposium, scheduled for October 4. The event will feature experts in oncology, surgery, nutrition, and related fields, providing a platform for sharing new research and treatment strategies.
With registration already in high demand, SLBMC is encouraging members of the public to secure their spots early.

Welcome Dr. Sulowski! Our kids deserve the very best, and this is a move in the right direction.
Good addition, but one doctor won’t fix the system. We also need more nurses and better equipment.
Very good. Hope he can help improve the services there
Great news! Our children deserve the best care possible welcome to the team, doctor!
