estination Ambassadors at Cruise Excellence Workshop
Antigua Cruise Port (ACP) has taken a major step in enhancing the island’s cruise tourism experience with its Cruise Excellence Workshop, held this week under the theme “Cruise Connect – Align, Connect and Grow.”
The two-day event brought together frontline Destination Ambassadors to strengthen professionalism, hospitality, and cultural pride in preparation for the 2025/2026 cruise season.
The workshop opened with remarks from Minister of Tourism, Investment and Economic Development, Charles Fernandez, who praised participants for their critical role in shaping visitors’ first impressions. “I’m really proud of how far we have come with Antigua Cruise Port (ACP) and the support that Government has placed behind our partnership. We are pleased with not only the level of representation that Global Ports Holding (GPH) brings when we engage cruise lines, but also the kind of experience and professionalism they have brought to our port.” he said.

With the new Antigua Cruise Port terminal set to open this November, welcoming P&O Cruises’ Arvia for expanded homeporting, the workshop emphasized the importance of delivering world-class service to cruise passengers.

Gasper George, General Manager of ACP, said the initiatives highlight Antigua and Barbuda’s commitment to being a premier cruise destination, ensuring visitors leave with unforgettable memories of the island and its people.

Very good turn out. I hope what they learn can be visible in their interactions with not only visitors but locals alike
Workshops to elevate visitor experience… maybe they’ll teach tourists how to wait in line gracefully too.
