A bakery owner in Swetes is counting his losses after thieves broke into his business and made off with thousands in cash, along with security equipment.
According to reports, the break-in at Mumble Bakery occurred sometime between 11 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, and 3:40 a.m. the following morning.
Owner Delroy Jackson told investigators that approximately $15,000 in both U.S. and Eastern Caribbean currency was stolen, along with the DVR box connected to the bakery’s CCTV cameras.
Police said the intruders gained entry by cutting two panes from a louvered bathroom window on the lower floor of the two-storey building.
After entering, they forced open a storeroom door, where the stolen items were kept. The burglars are believed to have exited through the same window.
Crime scene officers processed the location, and several persons were interviewed, but no useful leads have yet been obtained. The investigation remains ongoing.
