Police Capture Suspect After Dramatic Break-In at Paradiso

Police were called to Paradiso on Lower All Saints Road early Sunday morning after a break-in was reported around 3:30 a.m.

According to reports, officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Special Services Unit (SSU) responded swiftly and surrounded the building, where the alleged offender was still inside.

Moments later, the suspect attempted to flee through a back northern door. Police say he confronted them with a pointed object, prompting an officer to fire a warning shot. The man then jumped a fence and escaped into a nearby gutter, carrying a bag.

A search was launched, and the suspect was later found in the Michael’s Village area near Photogenesis. He was reportedly carrying a screwdriver and a bag containing a metal grinder and other burglary tools.

The man sustained injuries during the incident and was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for treatment.

Investigators later determined that entry to the building was gained by prying open a wooden northern door. An undisclosed amount of cash and coins were taken. The Forensic Evidence Recovery Unit (FERU) processed the scene as inquiries continue.
