Industrial Action Averted at Post Millennial Academy

The Antigua and Barbuda Union of Teachers (A&BUT) has withdrawn its planned industrial action at the Post Millennial Academy, which was scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

The move comes after the school’s administration reached out to union executives, signaling a willingness to meet and address ongoing concerns.

Last week, A&BUT President Casroy Charles notified parents in a letter dated September 10 that teaching staff would take action until administrators engaged the union in negotiations. At the time, Charles said the step was necessary due to what the union viewed as the administration’s “continued failure” to resolve key disputes through dialogue.

However, speaking to Antigua.news this morning, Charles confirmed that the union has decided to hold off.

“We decided to meet tomorrow to discuss the pending matters, so we have decided to put the industrial action on hold. They reached out to us…” Charles explained.

The upcoming meeting between the school’s administrators and union representatives is expected to set the tone for negotiations, with both sides expressing cautious optimism that the matter can be resolved without disruption to the students’ education.

  1. It is always better to negotiate that fight or tell teachers to stay home. I recall when this man shut down the whole school system because of 7 unpaid teachers. You think mr easy?

  5. Respect to the union for holding off once dialogue opened. That shows they’re serious about resolution, not just protest.
