Guyanese Law Student Death Case Delayed Until November

A 24-year-old man accused of killing a visiting Guyanese law student will learn next month whether his case advances to the High Court for trial.

Victor Ince of Lightfoot West was expected to face committal proceedings on Wednesday before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel, but the hearing has been rescheduled for November 5.

Ince faces serious charges stemming from the May 7 death of 19-year-old Joyleen Abraham at Judges Estate. The charges include forcibly seizing and confining the young woman, as well as unlawfully killing her.

The University of Guyana law student was found unresponsive on a roadway linking New Winthorpes Village to the Jabberwock main road. Abraham had reportedly been visiting Antigua to see a personal friend when the fatal incident occurred.

Reports indicate Abraham allegedly jumped from a vehicle that Ince was operating before being discovered on the rural road. A medical doctor pronounced her dead at the scene.

Following the incident, police seized the vehicle for forensic analysis and questioned Ince about the circumstances surrounding Abraham’s death.
