Two Face High Court Trial Over Alleged Forgery

24 September 2025 - 11:56

A young mother from Nut Grove and a man from Gray’s Farm are now before the justice system, accused of trying to pass off a forged cheque.

The duo was recently brought before the Magistrates’ Court, where they were each granted bail set at $10,000. To secure their release, the two must deposit $1,000 in cash and find two sureties.

The woman, who is 24 years old and unemployed, has been ordered to hand over her passport. Meanwhile, her co-accused, who has no travel document, has been restricted from applying for one until the court decides otherwise.

As part of their bail conditions, both individuals must report to the Gray’s Farm Police Station three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Because the case is indictable, it will be sent up to the High Court for trial. When Acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason pressed for details on the value of the cheque, no figure was available at the time.

The matter has been postponed to December 16 for further hearing.
