Antigua and Barbuda and Panama are advancing plans to strengthen trade and transportation ties as both nations prepare to sign a series of new bilateral agreements.
The announcement follows a courtesy visit by Panama’s newly accredited Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, Her Excellency Ana Irene Delgado, who presented her credentials to Prime Minister Gaston Browne on Thursday.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne says discussions are ongoing with COPA Airlines for possible direct flights between Panama and Antigua, or Fifth Freedom routes through Barbados.
Simultaneously, talks with LIAT Air aim to connect Eastern Caribbean travelers directly to Panama for business and shopping.
Browne called Panama “a vital trade and logistics hub,” and revealed that Sir Ronald Sanders, Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the OAS, has also been appointed Ambassador to Panama to expedite new agreements.
Among the priorities are closer cooperation between the Antigua Port Authority and Panamanian ports to boost regional logistics.

Smart move by the government Panama is a regional powerhouse. This could open doors beyond the Caribbean.
Hope this also helps local businesses expand their markets abroad
I heard Panama is good for shopping so I love the sound of that
