New venue for Schools Panorama this weekend

This year, the ACB Caribbean National School Panorama competition will return to the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium.

A few years ago, the event, which has become of the most anticipated on the Independence calendar was held at the historic grounds but was eventually relocated to the Port parking lot for the 2023 and 2024 editions.

Jerry Aska, sub-chair of the committee explained that due to the increase in participating bands, they had to make the switch.

Sixteen schools will compete this Saturday.

In the primary section, six will battle and in the secondary 10 will face off.

A new champion will be crowned in the Primary division as last year’s winners Pigotts Primary will not compete.

Newcomers Bendals Primary will open the show with a rendition of Burning Flames’ Swinging Engine. TN Kirnon is second with Nice and Slow by Kiing Onyan.

Sunny side Tutorial will follow with Something got a Hold on Me by Claudette CP Peters. Former champions, Villa Primary will play fourth with the rendition of the late Ricardo Drue’s ID.

Nelvie N Gore is next with Daughter Come by Ge’Eve while Green Bay Primary will close the Primary section with the rendition Good Times by Tian Winter.

For the secondary section, St. Anthony’s Secondary will open the batting with Young Lyrics’ A Plus Wine. They will be followed by former champions, St. Joseph’s Academy with Mental Day by CP.

Ottos Comprehensive is next with Time of your Life by Tian Winter, All Saints Secondary School will follow with Out There by CP and then new comers Irene B Williams Secondary with Dear Carnival by Sammy Singh.

Defending champions, Princess Margaret are in the 6th spot with Empress’ Cape while Antigua Grammar School will follow with ID, Stamp your Name by Ricardo Drue.

Clare Hall Secondary who is also playing a rendition of Cape will play next then newcomers Sir Novelle Richards Academy will make their way with the song Stampede by the Burning Flames.

Christ the King High School will close the show with CP’s Out There.

While in the secondary section, Antigua Grammar School will play ID, Stamp your Name by Ricardo Drue, defending champions, Princess Margaret School will play Cape by Empress, rivals Clare Hall Secondary School will also play that song.

Ottos Comprehensive School will play a rendition of Tian Winter’s Time of your Life, Christ the King High School and All Saints Secondary School will play Out There by Claudette CP Peters, newcomers Irene B Williams Secondary School will play Dear Carnival by Sammy Singh, St. Anthony’s Secondary School will play A Plus Wine by Young Lyrics while former champions, St. Joseph’s Academy will play Mental Day by CP.

Newcomers, Sir Novelle Richards Academy will play Burning Flames’ Stampede.

Admission is $20 for adults and $5 for children.

It begins at 4pm.

  1. Sounds great. It’s so much more exciting when all or nearly all of the secondary schools compete as well as a good number from the primary schools. I haven’t been to the schools’ panorama in years, but this year I am more than keen to attend!

  7. I need to correct an error made. The defending Primary Division champions was the Greenvay Primary School.
