
The Black River Hospital in Jamaica has sustained catastrophic damage as Hurricane Melissa battered the island with record-breaking winds and storm surges.
Images emerging from St. Elizabeth show the hospital’s roof ripped apart, walls collapsed, and the surrounding compound submerged in floodwaters littered with debris. Medical staff and patients were forced to evacuate as rising waters and flying debris made conditions unsafe.
Authorities say the facility, which serves thousands in Jamaica’s southwest.
Hurricane Melissa, now a Category 5 system, continues to unleash destructive winds and heavy rainfall across Jamaica, leaving widespread devastation in its wake.
