CIU Donates $10,000 to Support SLBMC’s PINKparty Breast Cancer Campaign

The Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) has made a generous contribution of $10,000 XCD to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC), boosting this year’s PINKparty breast cancer awareness and fundraising drive.

Now in its 13th year, the PINKparty campaign has achieved a major milestone—raising the most funds since its inception. The proceeds from the 2025 initiative will go toward the hospital’s ambitious goal of purchasing a new mammogram system valued at approximately $250,000 XCD.

This latest donation continues a strong partnership between the CIU and SLBMC. Earlier this year, the Unit also sponsored the Multidisciplinary Cancer Symposium, which brought together regional healthcare professionals to share insights on cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

CIU Chief Executive Officer, Charmaine Quinland-Donovan, said the organization takes pride in supporting causes that make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

“It’s important to me that the impact of the CIU—and the citizens who become part of our national story—can be truly felt in our communities,” Quinland-Donovan said. “Healthcare touches everyone, and supporting SLBMC’s PINKparty campaign allows us to play a meaningful role in advancing cancer awareness and care.”

Head of Marketing and Communications at SLBMC, Salma Crump, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the CIU’s contribution and reaffirmed the link between national growth and community well-being.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the CIU for their continued support and belief in the work we’re doing,” Crump said. “It’s inspiring to see how the CIU, and by extension our new citizens, are helping to strengthen healthcare for all. Every contribution brings us closer to our goal—we’re not far from raising $100,000, and I believe we can do it.”

Crump emphasized that even though October marks the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the mission continues year-round.

“The end of October doesn’t mean the end of the conversation,” she added. “Breast cancer awareness is a year-round effort. You can still show your support by purchasing a commemorative PINKparty T-shirt or making a donation of any amount.”
