Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle used his 44th Independence message to deliver a stirring call for national integrity, urging Antiguans and Barbudans to reclaim the moral foundations upon which the country was built.
Speaking in a solemn tone, Pringle said that the nation’s independence must go beyond parades and patriotism to a renewed commitment to transparency and accountability.
“At this moment, the dark shadow of corruption threatens our Nation’s progress,” Pringle declared. “It has eroded our trust in the government, in institutions, and even in the church and civil society.”
The All Saints East and St Luke MP said that corruption is robbing citizens of their hopes and future. “Every dollar lost to dishonesty,” he said, “is a Social Security pension unpaid; a classroom left unfinished; a clinic left in ruin; a hospital without supplies.”
Pringle reiterated his party’s call for independent investigations into alleged corruption at the Ministry of Public Works and in the now-infamous “Vehicle-Gate” affair, which has dominated national headlines.
He reminded citizens that fighting corruption is not about politics but about principle. “We must shine a light wherever it exists,” he said, urging all citizens to demand good governance.

We all demand and echo the call for good governance

Antigua is not a real place and the actors within it are unreal. Here we have a man who was implicated in the same so called vehicle gate scandal, speaking about corruption. He needs to simply answer the question about who signed the waiver form for the environmental levy, which by the way is an illegal act, for a 14 seater bus that he owns. Unless you can answer that truthfully, then stop your crap about corruption because that will not go anywhere, neither will it take your lacklustre political organization anywhere. As an opposition party you lack foresight and proper leadership. You are not leadership material, you are a waste of time. The UPP is trying everything possible to trump up some BS that will erode the trust in Gaston and the Labour Party and what is happening they are failing miserably. It tells many of us that your organization is not ready for governance of this country. Gaston Browne will win again. As Antiguans would say, AH DAT YOU FU STUDY!
And ppl still ordering y Antigua will never stop corruptions by POLITICIAN. Just hear this fool. Rooting for party instead of country. Antigua First!!!

Jamal keep fighting the good fight of faith
Pringle’s call is a much-needed wake-up for Antigua and Barbuda. Independence is a time to celebrate freedom, but it’s also a moment to reflect on what holds a nation back. Corruption erodes opportunity, trust, and progress, so framing this as a turning point challenges both leaders and citizens to step up. Real change will come when policies, oversight, and civic engagement align otherwise, it risks remaining just another speech.

Vehicle Gate still boiling and not one person face real consequence. If it was a poor man thief a car, he done in jail long time. But big people thief millions and still smiling on the podium. Pringle talk truth, but we need more than talk we need action! Peace out!!
When your government was in power yall did the same so move from here
Pringle finally say what plenty of us been thinking for years. Antigua can’t move forward if corruption keep draining the country dry. Every time you hear about some new scandal, is taxpayer money gone down the drain. It’s not about red or blue it’s about right and wrong
