Authorities are currently investigating a shooting that occurred in Liberta during the early hours of Thursday morning.

At approximately 12:20 a.m., officers from the Liberta Police Station responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on Hamlet Road. Upon arrival, they encountered a male resident who stated that two masked intruders, both slender and dressed in black, had forcibly entered his home. One intruder is described as being around 5 feet 11 inches tall, while the other stands approximately 6 feet tall.

It was reported that a struggle took place between the victim and the assailants, during which he sustained a gunshot wound to his left thigh. The attackers fled the scene with a bag containing cash and various personal documents.

Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. Fortunately, his injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening.

The police are urging anyone with information that could help identify the suspects to reach out to the Liberta Police Station at 460-1001, the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913, or Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).

  6. It’s getting frightening how often we’re hearing about gun violence. Something deeper is going wrong, and it’s not going to be fixed by investigations alone. We need real prevention strategies.
