A man charged with causing the death of a medical student on Friars Hill Road will have a trial date fixed following a case management hearing scheduled for April 24.

Karim Edwards appeared before Justice Rajiv Persaud in the High Court on Friday, where the date was set.

Edwards, who entered a not guilty plea last month, is charged with causing death by reckless driving and reckless driving in connection with the October 23, 2022 collision that claimed the life of Kenneth Mathew and left Priyanjana Das with injuries that changed her life forever.

Mathew, who sustained severe brain trauma in the crash, died just over a week later.

Das survived but lost her right arm, suffered fractures to her left arm, and sustained pelvic injuries.

The accused is represented by Attorney Wendel Alexander.

  7. Not guilty plea is his right, but the evidence better speak clearly. Too many of these cases end up with slap on the wrist
