Government to redistribute 682 Acres of Land to Farmers
The government has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting food production through agricultural land redistribution.
The Ministry of Agriculture reported that approximately 682 acres of abandoned and underutilized agricultural lands have been identified and repossessed for redistribution.
The first phase will allocate land to 50 vetted farmers, who will initially receive six-month probationary agreements before qualifying for longer-term occupancy based on productivity.
Cabinet also approved continued restrictions ensuring agricultural concessions are granted only to registered farmers and fisherfolk actively engaged in production.
Officials said the initiative forms part of Government’s strategy to reduce food imports, expand local production and improve national food security.

So how does one acquire these land?
