Police in Antigua and Barbuda have launched an investigation after more than EC$1 million worth of suspected cocaine was discovered in two separate seizures along the coastline of Barbuda.

According to the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, the two packages were found near Coco Point over two consecutive days.

The first discovery was made on August 2, when police seized a package near the dock at Coco Point containing 20 vacuum-sealed parcels of a whitish substance suspected to be cocaine.

A second package was discovered the following day along Coco Point Beach. Police said it also contained 20 vacuum-sealed parcels of a substance suspected to be cocaine.

The two seizures had a combined weight of approximately 104 pounds and an estimated street value of EC$1,084,910.

Police have not indicated whether any arrests have been made in connection with the discoveries.

The Royal Police Force said a full investigation has been launched to determine the origin of the suspected drugs and identify those responsible.

Investigators are pursuing all available leads as the probe continues.
