President of the Airport Taxi Association, Ian Joseph, is heading to Tübingen, Germany, where he will once again showcase Antigua and Barbuda’s culture and tourism offerings at the city’s annual African Festival.
Joseph, who also serves in an unofficial capacity as a Cultural and Tourism Ambassador for Antigua and Barbuda, will participate in the festival from August 6 to 9. This will mark the third time he has represented the twin-island nation at the event.
The festival brings together members of the African diaspora living in Germany and other European countries, along with participants and representatives from North America, the Caribbean and other regions.
During the four-day event, Joseph is expected to participate in discussions and presentations highlighting Antigua and Barbuda’s culture, with particular emphasis on the country’s strong African heritage and the ways in which those influences remain evident in local traditions and cultural expression.
Joseph also intends to use the international platform to promote Antigua and Barbuda as a tourism destination, encouraging festival participants to consider the country for future vacations and other opportunities.
He said his participation in previous years has already produced tangible results, with several people expressing interest in visiting Antigua and Barbuda following his promotion of the destination.
According to Joseph, at least one individual he engaged during a previous visit was encouraged to pursue studies in Antigua and Barbuda and subsequently decided to attend medical school in the country.
His participation in the Tübingen African Festival provides another opportunity to increase awareness of Antigua and Barbuda in the European market while strengthening cultural connections between the twin-island state and the wider African diaspora.
Joseph is expected to use his appearances throughout the festival to share Antigua and Barbuda’s story, promote its African-rooted cultural heritage and highlight the country as an attractive Caribbean destination.
