The AIDS Secretariat Education Department is encouraging residents to prioritise their sexual health following the 2026 Carnival celebrations by taking advantage of four days of free and confidential HIV testing.

The department will host its Late Night Testing initiative from August 17 to 20, 2026, offering testing services daily from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The initiative, promoted under the message “We enjoyed Carnival. Now let’s take care of us,” is aimed at encouraging people to know their HIV status and make informed decisions about their health following the Carnival season.

Testing will be conducted at the AIDS Secretariat Education Department on Long and Temple Streets in St. John’s.

According to the department, the process is quick, easy and confidential, with results available within minutes. Services will also be provided in a caring, respectful and judgement-free environment.

The campaign emphasises the importance of early testing, noting that knowing one’s HIV status can help individuals access appropriate care, protect their partners and make informed choices about their health.

The AIDS Secretariat is urging sexually active individuals, particularly those who may have engaged in risky sexual behaviour during the Carnival period, to take advantage of the free service.

“After Carnival, get tested. Know your status. Protect your future,” the campaign states.
