Gregory Shoy “Driftwood” Athill has been re-elected President of the Antigua National Taxi Association (ANTA), securing another term following the Association’s Biennial General Election held on Wednesday, August 5.

Athill, who led the “Dedicated to Excellence” team, received strong support from members, giving him a renewed mandate to continue leading the organisation.

First elected in 2024 under the theme “Restructure and Unity,” Athill has credited his administration with making significant strides over the past two years, including tripling ANTA’s assets, strengthening its financial position, expanding member services and improving its organisational structure.

His administration has also placed greater emphasis on hospitality and customer service training for taxi operators, while strengthening partnerships with government agencies, hotels, tourism stakeholders and the private sector.

Following his re-election, Athill thanked ANTA members and his executive team for their continued support, describing the result as “a victory for unity, professionalism, and the continued advancement of the Association.”

He also expressed appreciation to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, particularly Prime Minister Gaston Browne, for facilitating the provision of land for the Association through the Ministry of Agriculture.

Athill further acknowledged the support of tourism stakeholders and pledged to use his new term to improve member welfare, expand training opportunities, strengthen professional standards and deepen partnerships within Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism industry.
