Yida Zhang

Chinese investor and businessman Yida Zhang has been shot and injured during what preliminary information suggests was an attempted robbery at the YIDA Special Economic Zone in Crabbs.

Information reaching Antigua.news indicates that Zhang, of Yida International Investment Antigua Limited, sustained two gunshot wounds to the chest and ribcage during the incident.

He was rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. His condition has not yet been officially disclosed.

The precise circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, but initial reports suggest the incident may have unfolded during an attempted robbery at the warehouse.

Police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the events leading up to the gunfire and those responsible.

Zhang is a prominent Chinese investor who has been associated with major development plans in Antigua and Barbuda for more than a decade, including the Special Economic Zone project in the country’s northeast.
