Defreitas and Richards Remanded Over West Bus Station Shooting

Two young men charged in connection with last week’s shooting at the West Bus Station have been remanded to prison, with their case adjourned until October 7 for case management.

According to Wadadli Case Files, Kajouni Defreitas, 19, of Ottos, and Royli Richards, 18, of Golden Grove, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emmanuel yesterday, where both were formally remanded.

The two are jointly charged with Shooting with Intent to Murder and Using a Firearm in Furtherance of an Offence.

The charges stem from a shooting at the West Bus Station on Thursday, August 6, which left three people nursing gunshot wounds.

The victims have been identified as Jahlani Barzey and Josh Thomas, both of Villa, and Dejohntea Meade of Seatons.

Two of the victims remain hospitalized and are receiving medical treatment. Their conditions have been described by authorities as stable.

Attorney Leon Symister appeared on behalf of Richards, while attorney Damien Benjamin represented Defreitas.

The matter is expected to return before the court on October 7 for case management

  1. When people stupid enough to attempt to murder outside of a self-defense situation the perpetrators should punished almost like a murder and that’s real deterrent. Gun is not a toy designed to kill so kill those who want to commit a senseless crime
