Ministry’s Youth Week Outreach Brings Support to Communities Across Antigua

14 August 2026 - 07:45

The Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation, through its Department of Youth Affairs, continued its observance of National Youth Week 2026 with a successful community outreach initiative that delivered essential supplies to residents across Antigua.

Youth officers visited Bolans, Jennings, Liberta, All Saints, Johnsons, Willikies, Freeman’s Village, Clare Hall and several other communities, engaging residents and distributing electronic devices, stationery, adult diapers, menstrual products and other useful items.

The outreach formed part of the Ministry’s efforts to take Youth Week beyond organised events and directly into communities, where young people could demonstrate compassion, leadership and a commitment to national service.

The activity brought excitement and encouragement to beneficiaries, while providing practical assistance to individuals and families with varying needs. Residents warmly welcomed the youth officers and expressed appreciation for the donations and personal interaction.

The Ministry commended the participating officers for successfully executing the outreach and ensuring that residents in communities across the island benefited from the Youth Week initiative.

The activity reflected the theme of National Youth Week 2026, “Building Intentionally: Youth in Motion,” by placing young people at the centre of positive action and meaningful community engagement.

The Ministry believes that youth development must include opportunities for young people to serve others, understand the needs of their communities and contribute directly to improving the lives of vulnerable residents.

National Youth Week continues with additional activities intended to celebrate the achievements, talents and potential of young people while promoting youth participation in national development.

The Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation encourages members of the public to continue supporting the remaining activities and joining in the celebration of Antigua and Barbuda’s youth.
