A group of promising young footballers from Antigua and Barbuda is heading to England for a week of high-level training and international exposure aimed at further developing their skills and understanding of the game.

The players, who are part of The Soccer Academy in Antigua, will travel to Coventry for the football development experience being facilitated in collaboration with Future Pro Academy.

During their stay, the youngsters will take part in elite training and development sessions while also being exposed to academy and club environments in England.

The programme is designed to give the players firsthand experience of football development outside of Antigua and Barbuda and an opportunity to see the standards and structure associated with the English game.

Their visit will also include a chance to attend the Coventry City versus AS Monaco match, allowing the young footballers to watch the game at a high level while in England.

Future Pro Academy welcomed the Antiguan contingent ahead of the trip, describing The Soccer Academy as one of Antigua’s leading football academies and wishing the players safe travels and an enjoyable experience.

For the young players, the trip represents more than a week of football. It provides a chance to train in a different environment, experience new coaching methods and gain a broader perspective on what is required to continue developing in the sport.

International training experiences have increasingly become an important avenue for young Caribbean footballers seeking greater exposure and opportunities beyond the region.

The week in Coventry will give the Antiguan players an opportunity to test themselves in a highly competitive football environment while taking valuable lessons back home as they continue their development.
