Police are offering a cash reward for information that could help solve the murder of 39-year-old Omari Philip of Swetes, who died nearly a month after being shot multiple times along All Saints Road.
The Police Administration announced Saturday that a murder investigation is now underway and is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information that could lead investigators to those responsible to come forward.
Philip was shot shortly after 9 p.m. on July 14.
According to police, investigations have revealed that two armed suspects, reportedly dressed in dark clothing, exited a white Toyota Axio and discharged several rounds at Philip.
He was rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he remained hospitalized for several weeks.
Philip was pronounced dead at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Friday, August 14, after succumbing to his injuries.
Police are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who witnessed the shooting or may have seen a vehicle fitting the description in the All Saints Road area around the time of the attack.
Authorities have not disclosed the amount of the cash reward but said it is being offered for information that assists investigators in solving the homicide and bringing those responsible to justice.

The Police Administration has extended condolences to Philip’s family and assured the public that investigators will continue pursuing all available leads in the case.
Why are they treating his death like that of an innocent, respectable person? It’s a slap in the face of the loved ones of the woman he murdered.
A crime was definitely committed with his murder; however the police publicly offering condolences, and the offer of a cash reward – as if he was an upstanding citizen – is crass. There shouldn’t be any statement or article beyond that stating that he was shot dead, and certainly nothing further evoking public sympathy for him.
