Police operation leads to arrests and weapon discovery
Four people have been arrested following separate police operations at Villa and Gray Hill on Sunday, during which officers seized a firearm, matching ammunition and a flare gun.
At approximately 5:45 a.m., officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Villa and discovered a firearm along with several matching rounds of ammunition.
Three occupants were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and ammunition and taken to the St. John’s Police Station.
The operation involved personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department Task Force, K-9 Unit, Narcotics Department, Special Services Unit and Forensic Evidence Recovery Unit.
In a separate operation at Gray Hill, police searched another residence and reportedly found a flare gun concealed inside the door of a vehicle. One person was arrested and taken into custody.
Police said the operations form part of an intensified crime-fighting strategy aimed at removing illegal firearms, ammunition and other potentially dangerous weapons from the streets.
The Police Administration is appealing to the public for information about illegal weapons or people involved in criminal activity.

Investigations into both matters are continuing.
