Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Tian Winter
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has offered to help finance a full album by soca star Tian Winter as Antigua and Barbuda prepares for the 70th anniversary of Carnival in 2027.
Browne described Winter as the country’s strongest current soca performer and urged him to take greater responsibility for producing a body of high-quality music for the landmark celebration.
He compared that responsibility with the sustained output of legendary artistes such as the late Swallow and Burning Flames, who produced new music consistently over many years.
The Prime Minister said emerging performers also had promise but believed Winter possessed the experience and ability to raise the standard of local soca. He publicly offered financial support to help make the album possible.
Browne has repeatedly called for stronger local music as Antigua Carnival seeks to compete more aggressively with other major festivals across the Caribbean and diaspora.
Why doesn’t this idiot of a prime minister shut his RH mouth and deal with the issues that affect each and every Antiguan he has shamefully let down.. why doesn’t he take his own insulting advise and push his fingers up his ass.
