The Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) is throwing its support behind one of its own as national bodybuilding champion Franklin Carbon prepares to represent Antigua and Barbuda on the regional stage.

Carbon, who serves as Building Supervisor in the Maintenance Department at V.C. Bird International Airport, has earned a place on the Antigua and Barbuda National Team for the 53rd Central American and Caribbean Fitness & Bodybuilding Championship in Guatemala.

The regional competition runs from August 25 to September 1 and will bring together some of the top bodybuilding and fitness athletes from across Central America and the Caribbean.

Carbon secured his place on the national team following an impressive showing at the 59th Annual Bodybuilding Championship organised by the Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Federation, where he captured the Senior Overall Bodybuilding title.

While he is well known among his colleagues at the airport for his positive attitude and work in the Maintenance Department, Carbon is also a seasoned competitor who has dedicated years to bodybuilding.

In recognition of his latest achievement, the Airport Authority has stepped in to sponsor his participation in the regional championship, supporting his opportunity to compete internationally while representing Antigua and Barbuda.

Ahead of his departure for Guatemala, Carbon joined ABAA Chief Executive Officer Kurt Menal and Human Resources Manager Moya Thomas for a brief presentation marking the Authority’s support.

The Airport Authority said it is proud to see one of its employees pursuing excellence beyond the workplace and wished Carbon success as he takes on the region’s best.

“We here at the V.C. Bird International Airport are all proud of you Franklin! Bring it home for Antigua and Barbuda!” the Authority said.
