Prime Minister Gaston Browne has publicly commended Social and Urban Transformation Minister Rawdon Turner, saying the relatively quiet minister is making a significant impact across his portfolio.

Browne cited the expansion of HAPI housing, improvements around the public market, the removal of derelict buildings and the clearing of congested spaces among the minister’s achievements.

He also praised Turner’s decision to organize a National Child Protection Town Hall Meeting at the John E. St. Luce Finance and Conference Centre, describing the discussion as important and widely watched.

The meeting brought together a panel of experts to discuss the welfare of children in Antigua and Barbuda and how the laws can be changed to better protect these vulnerable ones.

The Prime Minister said Turner does not rely on elaborate language but communicates clearly when he speaks and has focused on delivering results.

Browne appealed for public cooperation as the ministry continues removing abandoned structures and other environmental blights.

He said additional work is planned and suggested that before-and-after images should be used to show how areas such as Booby Alley have changed under the Government’s urban-renewal efforts.
