32-year-old Claudus Richards

Investigators are working to determine what led to the death of 32-year-old Claudus Richards after he was found unresponsive in the waters at Jolly Beach on Thursday afternoon.

Richards, a Dominican national residing in Bolans, was reportedly seen floating face down in the water before two visitors in the area assisted in pulling him ashore.

Police said they responded to the scene at approximately 3:30 p.m. on September 3 after receiving a report of the incident.

Emergency Medical Services were summoned, and Richards was later transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not indicated what may have caused Richards to become unresponsive in the water, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.

The Police Administration has extended condolences to his family and friends.
