Students and teachers at Trinity Academy have received approximately 35 laptops as part of a new initiative aimed at strengthening computer literacy and improving access to technology in the classroom.

The laptops were donated by the Rotary Club of Antigua for use by students in Grades Four and Five. They will remain at the school as shared educational resources and will not be taken home for personal use.

Speaking during the presentation, the club’s Service Projects Director PauL Ryan said the donation represents another chapter in Rotary’s longstanding relationship with the school.

The organisation has previously supported Trinity Academy through Christmas parties and other donations, but its latest initiative places greater emphasis on preparing children for an increasingly digital world.

“Today, we will be focusing on computer literacy starting in the early years of the students’ lives,” Ryan said

The laptops are expected to help teachers incorporate more technology into their lessons while giving students practical experience using digital tools to support their education.

In addition to the laptop donation, eye screenings were conducted for students in both Grade Four and Grade Five. The assessments were intended to identify possible vision problems that could affect the children’s ability to use the devices and perform effectively in the classroom.

“We are not only here to enhance your education through computer technology; we are also here to ensure that your eyesight is equipped to utilise these laptops,” the representative explained.

Students were encouraged to use the devices responsibly and take proper care of them so that future classes can also benefit.

The project was undertaken with support from a partner organisation, the Bellevue Breakfast Club, under an initiative combining education and technology.

School officials, including Principal Agnes Harris, welcomed the contribution and thanked the organisations and individuals responsible for making the donation possible.
