The Antigua and Barbuda Association of Persons Living with Disabilities has issued an urgent appeal for assistance for Nneka George, a young woman living with the effects of a stroke while grieving the tragic loss of her child.
The association is calling on individuals, businesses, churches, women’s organisations, disability advocates and community groups to rally around George as she endures an exceptionally difficult period.
According to the association, George faces an overwhelming physical and emotional burden as she simultaneously copes with disability, grief, trauma and loss.
“No mother should ever have to endure such pain,” the association said. “This is not the time to judge. This is not the time to turn our backs. This is the time to come together.”
The organisation said George requires meaningful assistance with her daily needs, rehabilitation and recovery, mobility and accessibility, emotional support, food, essential household necessities and other forms of care that could help her regain stability and greater independence.
The appeal also highlights the broader challenges confronting vulnerable women with disabilities, particularly those who may experience difficulty communicating, seeking help or independently managing their daily needs.
The association is urging the public to move beyond expressions of sympathy and provide practical support wherever possible.
“Every contribution matters. Every act of kindness matters. Every person who reaches out can make a difference,” it said.
The organisation has appealed to people throughout Antigua and Barbuda and overseas, along with businesses, community leaders, women’s groups, churches and other civil-society organisations, to stand with George and assure her that she is not alone.
“Nneka George needs us. Let us not fail her,” the association said. “Together, with compassion, dignity and action, we can make a difference.”

It starts within the home …… because outside help is good yes but it’s a burden when the kids that are still alive does not look after their mother
I hope she gets the help she needs. I myself need help but i am not disabled. Please help if you can.
Losing a child while dealing with a stroke and all the other challenges is more than anybody should have to carry.
Nah man, this is the time to put sympathy aside and actually help where we can. Food, mobility, rehabilitation, even just checking in every little bit can make a difference.
