Antigua and Barbuda Named Focal Point for Proposed Louis Tomlinson Tourism Campaign
Michael Freeland will serve as organisers’ point of contact as discussions continue on the proposed promotional programme.
Antigua and Barbuda is exploring a proposed tourism campaign linked to Louis Tomlinson’s music and documentary project, with Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism Michael Freeland serving as the point of contact for organisers.
Vertigo Live presented the proposal to Cabinet on October 14, outlining a campaign intended to turn international exposure into travel interest and bookings for the destination.
The proposed 12-month programme would include approximately 12 to 16 short-form social media videos, destination storytelling and fan engagement, connecting the project’s audience with Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism offerings.
According to the presentation, the initiative could generate approximately £3.7 million in additional visitor spending over three years. It also included an illustrative estimate of £1.4 million in equivalent media exposure.
Cabinet noted that both figures were projections rather than guaranteed financial returns.
Freeland will coordinate contact with the organisers as discussions continue on the country’s involvement.
The proposal also envisages exploring cooperation with airlines, hotels, travel platforms and other tourism businesses to help translate audience interest into visits. British Airways was identified as a potential participant in discussions, although no partnership with the airline has been confirmed.
Cabinet supported further engagement on the initiative, while financial contributions and promotional commitments remain to be determined.
The Cabinet report did not disclose the overall production budget, any proposed government contribution or the assumptions behind the visitor-spending projections.
