The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) Electricity Business Unit sincerely apologizes to customers served by the Five Islands #4 circuit for the extended outage experienced on Friday 28 February 2025.
Initially, maintenance work was expected to take approximately 90 minutes.
However, during the exercise, our technicians identified additional issues that could potentially cause future outages. To enhance service reliability, the team took immediate action to address these concerns.
Due to the specific location of the circuit, it could not be connected to an alternate power source, resulting in a prolonged outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The impacted areas included Union Road, Five Islands, Hatton, Grays Farm, Green Bay, Cooks Hill.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue working to provide safe and reliable electricity service.
I honestly don’t want to hear apologies from APUA. Their sorry cannot fix my washing machine that won’t come on. Do you know how many appliances that have been destroyed? APUA keep your story for yourself. Mi nah want ummm
APUA this monopoly has to go. We need a new company. If this was so then you won’t be taking us for granted this way.
That’s all APUA is good for. They will apologize then do the same thing again.
APUA is always having some sort of problem. its over bearing now. Taking water so very often people belongs are mashing up
This was quite unfortunate, but thanks APUA.
I accept your apology i guess. but remember you’re dealing with people who has apppliances. Y’all just turn off light how yall feel and turn it on and it keeps going on and off. Antigua has enough news media for yall to send out a warning. sometimes you washing and off goes the light. the water is no where to be found. some of us have automatic machines, these clothes has to stay there until gos knows when.
There are really now many people with damaged electrical equipment
What was that? That shit shouldn’t happen
I hope they accept your apology cause I work from home and was forced to go into the office yesterday due to the power outage.
I was not pleased
APUA must needs to all social media outlets to announce all its scheduled maintenance so that people can be prepared in advance.
And while this is happening, they are trying stop the import of renewal energy system like Solar Panels and Backup Batteries as if the few who have them had an impact of the bottom line of APUA.
Thank goodness that citizens do have the capability to power themselves to take off some of the obvious lack of power generation from APUA.
So why trying to stop them?? You should embrace anyone wanting to become self sustainable on an island with this amount of Sun available!
After all, it does not cost anything to APUA for people to power themselves! And we surely need as much power as we can based on these ever recurring power outage!
