“You have in Gonsalves a good man and when you have a good man, there is no need to change a good man and when you have a good political party, there is no need to change any political party”. These were the words of Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit to hundreds of supporters in St Vincent and the Grenadines on Sunday night
Skerrit and his wife traveled to St Vincent and the Grenadines over the weekend to support Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, the prime minister of the twin-island republic.
They were guests at the Unity Labour Party celebration of 22 years in government
Skerrit told residents that they have a “real gem” in Dr. Gonsalves and they should stick to what they have and to what they know.
He said Dr. Gonsalves was by far one of the best prime ministers in the entire world and a decent man and the true world boss
“You have a special God-sent man in a prime minister who continues to defend you in the regional and international arena.” He added: “Let us keep what we have, let us stick to who we know. You know Gonsalves and you have in Gonsalves a good man.”
“Don’t think he is the Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines alone, he is the prime minister of the entire Caribbean,” Skerrit added.
Skerrit recalled that Dr. Gonsalves has been his mentor ever since he can remember.
“I can say to you I have been to numerous conferences and summits with Comrade Ralph, and every leader in every country, no matter how big or small, they respect Ralph Gonsalves, the prime minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines.”
He also commended the St Vincent prime minister for his handling of the La Soufriere volcanic eruption and other difficult times in the country.
“Let me say to you with the greatest sense of sincerity that you have in Prime Minister Gonsalves a good man, a man who has been with you in difficult times and has given you hope. Let us stick with Prime Minister Gonsalves and the Unity Labour Party because they are the best thing for the people of St Vincent and Grenadines,” Skerrit added.
