Seven Young Barbudans to be Employed as Immigration Officers on Sister Ilse (GIS)

Attorney General and Minister responsible for Immigration, Hon. Sir Steadroy Benjamin, has advised trainee Immigration Officers, who will be assigned to the new Barbuda International Airport, to put their best foot forward.

Seven young Barbudans began a two-week training program to function as Immigration Officers at the new Barbuda International Airport ahead of its October 3, 2024, opening.

Sir Steadroy called on the trainees to be pioneers for Barbuda by ensuring the high-standard operations of the new airport.

Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs Sen. the Hon. Knacyntar Nedd-Charles has encouraged the trainees to put their best foot forward. She advises them to take their functions seriously and to carry out their duties with integrity.

Deputy Chief Immigration Officer Mr. Nigel Emanuel and Officer in Charge of Barbuda Ms. Jo-Ann Small are conducting the training.

Always wondered how and why immigration officers make way more than teachers, when all they do is say hi, hello, welcome, you may go
