Alleged Fraudster Accused of Receiving Over $98K in Box Money

When the police reported that 21 years old Keithesha Edwards of Belmont was slapped with more fraudulent charges they were being very compassionate in the use of their language

According to reports leaked to Antigua.news, the young woman allegedly obtained close to $100k in cash for box money, which according to police reports, she may have used for her personal use

In case you are wondering what exactly is “box money”, well, it is, a type of informal savings club arrangement between a small group of people who take turns by throwing hands

Edwards reportedly received $42,000.00 in cash from George Hourani by false pretense with intent to defraud him, $4,400.00 from Marcel Scotland by false pretense, $4,800.00, from Nicole Cumberbatch, $4,800.00 from Winston Morris of Swetes and $5100.00 by Grace Walters

According to the police notes, the accused seemingly spent the money on herself.

Dwayne Hunte also told the police that Edwards defrauded him of $4950.00 entrusted to her for box money and Francisa Charles of Nut Grove reported the same, her amount was $38,025.00ECD

Keithroy Johannes of Bolans Village also came to CID and reported that he gave the sum of $33,300.00ECD to Edwards for the purpose of box money.

Teori Edwards of Bethesda was also the victim of the box money fraud as he claimed to have given her $4,200.00ECD of box money.

Police said this morning that she is due to appear in court this week

    This don’t make sense why would they give her such amount of money without receiving their hand,Box money should not stayed in the holders hand unless she is waiting for someone who might be late paying every month or week someone gets a hand I don’t understand how she can be owing these people that amount of money. If it’s a situation where someone get their hand and never come back to continue, she should informed the other people about that one person that never came back after getting their hand,so people don’t think she is holding their money.thats the only problem a box holder should encounter. Somthing not right.
