Lyndel “Smiley” Hilaire has died following an accident in Dominica today. This is the first road fatality recorded on the neighboring island.

The accident occurred in the village of Delices, the hometown of Hilaire.

Police in Dominica said that Hilaire who was the driver of motor vehicle PG929 lost control of the jeep and went off the road sometime in the morning of January 14, 2023, in an area known as Fond Toma in Delices.

Following the incident, he was removed from the vehicle and transported to the Laplaine  Health Center where he was examined and pronounced dead.
