A 24-year-old woman from Trinidad and Tobago has been arrested by police after she allegedly stole a vehicle from the police station in  Cunupia to kidnap a toddler.

The woman who is still in police lockup is known to the family according to reports from that country. Reports also suggest that the woman had been left with the child for a brief moment when her parents left the house however after they returned the child had gone missing

Neighbours informed the parents that the woman had taken the child and the police were notified.

While officers were on patrol on Monday night they saw a police car being driven along the Tacarigua road when they attempted to stop it, the driver sped off. The car was later intercepted and the child was found and rescued,

The woman is likely to be charged with kidnapping and theft.
