Since the start of the year, 99 illegal guns were confiscated by the Jamaica Constabulary Force in St James alone.

Police just on Tuesday seized two high-powered rifles in Salt Spring including 21 rounds of ammunition.

They seized the guns and ammunition during an operation in the Perry Street area Wednesday afternoon.

Two suspects are assisting the police with their investigations, according to reports.

The police say “it has ramped up its intelligence-driven operations in collaboration with the Jamaica Defence Force geared towards crime reduction across the Western division”
