Law enforcement officials had their hands full on Thursday with several major drug busts.

According to reports from the Narcotics Department, a joint operation was carried out at the V.C Bird International Airport at around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and a large number of drugs were discovered during a search in the baggage area.

During the operation, two suitcases were searched in the presence of Sidawney Henry, Donovan Brown, and Maureen Thompson, and a quantity of Cannabis was found.

The trio was taken to Police Headquarters along with the suitcases and their contents.

The substance found was weighed and it amounted to 120 pounds with a street value of $720,000.00.

On that same day, the Narcotics Department along with Customs Task Force Officers returned from duty at the Deep-Water Harbor Custom Transit Shed and reported that a joint drug Interdiction operation was carried out at the Transit Shed at about 9:30.

During this operation, one blue barrel which arrived from Canada containing food items was searched and quantity wrap packages concealed with a greenish bushy substance suspected to be the controlled drug cannabis were found.

Police said the blue barrel along with the substance found was taken to Police Headquarters for further investigation.

The drugs found have an estimated street value of $92,000.

On that same day, officers from the Narcotics Department returned from duty at the Deep-Water Harbor and reported that at about 9:30 On the 16th, a joint Drug Interdiction operation with Customs Enforcement was carried out. 

During this operation, one Blue Barrel was searched and a total of twelve Vacuumed sealed packages with a greenish bushy substance resembling the controlled drug cannabis were found.

The barrel along with its contents was taken to Police Headquarters for further investigation purposes. The substance found weighed and amounted to Eleven and a half (11 ½) pounds with an estimated street value of $69,000.00.
