The police officer who was shot in the leg during a robbery at Roti King last week is receiving psychological treatment to deal with the trauma, according to Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney.

It was last week Saturday that two men walked into Roti King and robbed the restaurant of EC$3,000 and Farmers Only tickets.

During the robbery, an off-duty police officer got wind of the situation and intervened. He was shot in the knee while the robbers fled the scene

Rodney says the brave officer is receiving medical and psychological treatment to deal with the trauma.

“His injuries are not that serious and he is doing much better now. But there is also the trauma of the whole experience so we are providing him with medical and psychological care. We have been providing that level of counseling to him. Our heart goes out to him and his family. It is not an easy experience for persons who have never been in that situation,” Rodney said

Two men are currently in police custody but Rodney says additional information is being sought before charges and be made against them

“We are appealing to members of the public to provide additional information to us so we can identify additional evidence”, Rodney said
