The National Public Library of Antigua & Barbuda’s Summer Reading Programme received sponsorship from Antigua Cruise Port to support young minds’ growth and development.
During July, 250 students aged 5-17 participated in various activities, including sports and field trips. They also received valuable lessons from entrepreneurs, medical professionals, authors, and artisans.
The students were introduced to the Chinese language, Mandarin, and a representative from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions advised them on making wise decisions in life. At the end of the program, the children were given backpacks and stationery to help them prepare for the upcoming school year.
The Director of the National Public Library, Ryllis Mannix, expressed gratitude towards Antigua Cruise Port for their partnership and support, stating that the backpacks and school supplies were especially helpful for families facing financial difficulties.
Antigua Cruise Port Leasing & Marketing Officer, Jessica Russell, believes that positive outlets for young people during the summer months are essential for their growth and development, and the organization is happy to support the National Public Library’s commitment to this cause.
They are eager to assist in providing the necessary tools for children to excel in their education.
