A collision involving a pick-up and a motorcycle has left a 30-year-old man dead and a 29-year-old hospitalized with serious injuries. It happened at the intersection of Sir Sydney Walling Highway and American Road at about 3:05 Sunday morning.

The motorcycle was traveling from west to east while a pick-up was traveling from north to south as they approached the intersection. It is not clear which of the vehicles disobeyed the traffic signal, but the crash left the motorcyclist and his pillion passenger with serious injuries.

The Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene within four minutes of receiving the call. The impact left the 30-year-old with severe injuries and he died while being transported to the hospital, despite valiant efforts by emergency medical technicians.

The 29-year-old was sent hurtling over the fence at Harney Motors and onto the compound. He has been admitted to hospital with multiple injuries. The pick-up driver was not seriously injured.

A section of the fence of the car dealership was also breached and some of the vehicles were damaged. Police investigations are continuing.
