Murder accused Berle Wallace Jr has told the court that he did not kill personal trainer Christopher Smithers.

Wallace Jr, allegedly murdered Smithers of Friars Hill Development on March 1 2022.

According to reports, Smithers and Wallace Jr were involved in an altercation on St John’s Street at around 6.23pm that evening, during which Wallace Jr armed himself with a sharp object and stabbed Smithers.

Smithers, who was a trainer at Xtreme Fitness Club, was then rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for emergency treatment, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead just a few minutes later.

The matter came before the High Court on Friday, where he entered a plea before Justice Ann-Marie Smith.

By virtue of his not guilty plea, he will stand trial next year.
